The NWT PFP brings together representatives from Indigenous Governments, the Government of Canada, the Government of the Northwest Territories, and private philanthropies in an effort to support Indigenous-led conservation and stewardship.

Partners agree the NWT PFP will protect lands, transform lives—including through increased Guardians programs, land-based language and culture programs—and generate economic development opportunities.

The initiative will also help ensure Canada meets its commitment to protect 30 per cent of lands and water by 2030.
